How to Measure Hardware
Measuring your hardware
Three numbers identify a bolt:
- Diameter — the thread's outer diameter. An M6 bolt measures 6 mm across the threads.
- Thread pitch — the distance between threads in millimetres (for example, M6×1.0).
- Length — measured from under the head to the tip for standard bolts, and including the head for countersunk bolts.
When replacing OEM hardware, match all three. If in doubt, message us with a photo and measurements and we'll identify it for you.
